We're starting off the month of August with many exciting events. Pride festival in Vancouver comes to an end with the annual Pride Parade in Downtown Vancouver! This lands on BC Day weekend, meaning another long weekend. 

Please note our centre will be closed on BC Day Monday Aug 4, 2025.

With summer in full swing, it's the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors or check out a new event. When job search feels challenging it's important to use self-care and some of these events can play an important role with that. 

Additionally, we have a few free events organized by our centre, which are a great chance to invite a friend to who might not know of WorkBC yet.

Exploring the Labour Market with Statistics Canada

Tuesday Aug 26, 2025 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

In-person: WorkBC Midtown East 110 E 3rd Ave, Vancouver, BC

Join us as we bring back the popular Statistics Canada events to explore the labour market. This presentation contains recently updated data to help job seekers determine the best path forward.

BGC Youth Programs

BGC: Youth EmployABILITY Program

BGC Canada is starting a new intake for the Youth employABILITY on August 11, 2025. This is aimed at supporting youth aged 15 to 30 providing skills, training and training.

What's included:

  • 8 week course including 4 weeks of paid workshops and training and up to 4 weeks of paid work and hands-on training 
  • Fun workplace and easy commute with many locations across Metro Vancouver
  • Build skills and get a chance to secure ongoing employment with the opportunity for advancement

Eligibility:

  • Youth aged 15-30
  • Candian Citizens, Permanent Resident or Refugees
  • Interest in working with kids of various ages
  • Punctual and reliable, ready to plan activities
  • Ability to attend workshops Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Start Date: Monday August 11, 2025

Duration: 8 weeks hybrid workshops on Zoom, few visits to BGC Delta Office: 11861 88 Ave, Delta, BC V4C 3C6

BGC: Employment Now

Another program starting in August is Employment Now, similar to the one above, this focuses on supporting youth to find employment. There's also a focus on supporting those that have faced a mental health challenge. 

What's included:

  • 6 week course including group-based workshops, training job opportunities in Customer Service/Retail Sales/Office Administration and more.
  • Three months of 1:1 Job Coaching support
  • Build a successful resume and cover letter
  • Hands-on experience by accessing on-the-job training with employer partners

Eligibility:

  • Ages 16-29 and ready to work
  • Candian Citizens, Permanent Resident or Refugees or International Student graduates on an open work permit
  • Interest in working with kids of various ages
  • Ability to attend workshops Monday - Friday 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Start Date: Monday August 11, 2025

Duration: 8 weeks hybrid workshops on Zoom, few visits to BGC Delta Office: 11861 88 Ave, Delta, BC V4C 3C6
