IT Helpdesk Closures

Please note due to resourcing issues the IT Service Centre Help Desk is operating with limited capacity. Please submit a ticket for support

The Help Desk will be closed for walk-up and phone support for two holiday events:

  • Thursday December 8, 2022 after 12 noon
  • Wednesday December 14, 12-2 pm

Please submit any support needs via the UBC Self-Service portal and your request will be triaged and sent to the best team to help. 

UBCO Phone Login Change

On November 17 UBCO IT Voice Services will be updating the campus Hot Desk telephone service to simplify access - your voicemail passcode will now be your phone login & NO passcode required for voicemail once you're logged in.

Please ensure you know your voicemail passcode or submit a ticket via the UBC Self-Service Portal to request a reset. LEARN MORE...

Free RONIN – AWS Cloud Training

UBC Advanced Research Computing (ARC) will be offering RONIN – AWS (Amazon Web Services) in person training at UBCO January 24th and 26th, 2023. No pre-requisites required, as this course will include an introduction to the platform.

The workshop is FREE and open to faculty, staff and students. Registration is limited to 25 people. Lunch is provided and complementary.

Equitable Virtual Interviews

A growing body of research shows candidates from some historically marginalized communities – in particular poor and racialized communities – are likely to be more negatively impacted by the move to virtual interviews. Beware of phishing

Cyber criminals are clever, sending email which appears to come from someone you trust, urging you to click on a link only to steal your information. A recent fake phish by the UBC Privacy Matters team saw a big jump in the number of employees who clicked on the fake link. Learn more on how to stay safe next time.

  • UBCO Content Management System Maintenance (UBCO Websites) 
    | Saturday, November 19 08:00-12:00 PT |
    • The Okanagan Campus Content Management System (CMS) will undergo maintenance on Saturday November 19, 2022 from 08:00-12:00 PT and may be intermittently unavailable during this time. During the maintenance window all websites using the UBCO CMS will be unavailable for administrative access.

      Any questions or concerns, please contact the UBC IT Okanagan Web and Applications team by entering a ticket in the UBC Self-Service Portal https://ubc.service-now.com/selfservice.

    • Faculty and staff are invited to join us for coffee and treats on Thursday November 17 at the Constellation Pit Stop in the Sawchuk Family Theatre.

      Learn more about how this network of media and technology studios and resources can inspire ideas for teaching & learning, research and public engagement. Drop in to the Visualization & Emerging Media Studio (VEMS) in COM 107, where Andreas Rutkauskas’ work Awful Splendour, a visually stunning 3-D stereoscopic photography, will be shown on the 40 screen, 180-degree, immersive video wall.

  • Free RONIN – AWS Cloud Computing Research Training
    | January 24 & 26, 2022 in person @ UBCO |

    • UBC Advanced Research Computing (ARC) and UBCO Research Computing (RC) are offering a two day, in-person hands-on workshop on RONIN – AWS Cloud Computing. Due to the hands-on nature of the workshop, this workshop is not offered virtually. The workshop is FREE and open to faculty, staff and students. Registration is limited to 25 people.
