Book time with an IT Tech

Are you UBCO Staff or Faculty? Have an IT issue but don't want to wait in line?

You can now book a 15 or 30 min appointment at the Service Desk for up to 3 days in advance to discuss tech issues you are having. Note: This service is only available to staff/faculty at this time. Students can visit the Library desk Mon-Fri 9-5 or use Student Tech Support online.

New Info Security Training

UBC has launched a required online Information Security Training for Administrative Heads of Unit (AHoU). This self-paced course offers practical tools and clear guidance to help protect UBC’s data and systems. Upcoming AI in Action 2026

Is your 2026 goal to use AI to work smarter? Join us for our first two sessions of the year, starting Tuesday January 14 with a hands-on demo from CTL on using AI tools hosted on your local device for more customized and secure tasks.

Then, on Thrusday February 26, UBC IT Communications will share how they use AI and UBC's Microsoft tools plus Canva to automate projects including newsletters and digital signage. Get inspired, learn practical tricks, and save time. Join AI in Action Teams Channel for these events and access more AI tips and tricks.

Don't forget to UPDATE your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) BEFORE disposing of your old phone or tablet. If your UBC MFA preference is still linked to your old phone, you won't receive the verification code on your new device. This can leave you locked out of your important UBC accounts! LEARN MORE...

Electronic Waste Reminder

Doing some clean-up around the office? Don't forget to dispose of old technology cleanly. E-waste includes electronic items that are old, broken or obsolete. E-waste bins are located in all campus public buildings.

Research equipment or computers to recycle? Submit a ticket so we can safely remove all UBC data first!

The UBC Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT) has introduced a new educational series, GenAI in Teaching and Learning. This series aims to help educators transition from concerns to understanding to seeing the opportunities generative AI presents.This series offers:

      • Weekly GenAI Support Clinics: One-hour drop-in clinics on teaching and learning topics to do with the use of tools such as ChatGPT, Stability AI, Google Bard and others, every Wednesday.
      • Integrating GenAI in Education at UBC 30+30 Workshops: 30-minute interactive presentations followed by 30-minutes of discussion designed to assist faculty and staff in navigating this new landscape.
