These sessions, which are offered this summer, cover a number of topics such as designing curriculum that considers equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), considering the well being of trainees and how leaders can incorporate EDI practices into their leadership. Professional Development & Workshops:

Undergraduate Research Opportunities (URO) has opportunities for you to participate as a mentor in the Research EXperience Program (REX).

What is REX?

REX is a six month long program designed to help undergraduate students build essential research skills through a proposed research project (no results required).

As a REX mentor you will guide 2-4 undergraduates through a mini proposed research project (no results required) within your field of expertise.

We are envisioning the 2021-2022 cycle of the REX program to be predominantly online, most certainly for the first semester of the year.

For an undergraduate, finding a chance to work/volunteer in a given field of research can be very difficult. REX seeks to help undergraduates experiment with research earlier in their careers and make a more informed decision about graduate school. If this opportunity interests you and you would like to become a mentor, please complete the initial registration form here. (This is NOT the final registration. The final registration and bio submission opens on August 2nd and will confirm your registration in the program for this year.)

Further information: REX Mentor Brochure

If you have any questions, comments or other inquiries please do not hesitate to contact us at rex.uro.ubc@gmail.com. Thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to hearing from you!

The National Funding Foundation is offering the Professional Grant Proposal Writing Workshop - Virtual Online Program on September 13, 2021. Interested development professionals, administrators, researchers, faculty, and graduate students should register as soon as possible, as demand means that seats will fill up quickly.

Awards:

The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (CGS) program is designed to attract and retain world-class doctoral students by supporting students who demonstrate both leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and humanities, natural sciences and engineering, and health-related fields.
