PLMCP Level II: French Cohort – Apply before August 15!

September 2025 will mark the launch of the French-language delivery of the Professional Lands Management Certification Program (PLMCP) Level II!

The FNLMAQL is working closely with NALMA to support the delivery of this technical training, designed to equip French-speaking lands managers with a deeper understanding of reserve lands in Quebec and the skills needed to manage their community territory effectively and efficiently.

FNLMAQL VIDEO: The Importance of Having a Will for First Nation Members on Reserve

In partnership with Visual Versa and OALA’s Estates Coordinator, Alison Irons-Cumming, this video explains the difference between passing away with a will and without one, what makes a will valid, and the many ways to create one.

This resource was created because of feedback from participants at the Indigenous Lands Management Gathering for Quebec and Labrador in February. Our goal was to create an accessible and engaging tool that can be easily shared online and at estate planning events.

We hope this video encourages you, your loved ones and communities to start and create a will today.

Update on the Additions to Reserve (ATR) Policy Redesign – July 2025 Newsletter

Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) continues to share updates on the ATR Policy Redesign through their quarterly newsletters.

The July edition highlights the ongoing work of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) in implementing the nine interim changes previously announced. It also outlines how CIRNAC and its partners are preparing for the next phase of the redesign.

Indigenous Leadership Fund for Biodiversity Conservation

The First Nations of Québec and Labrador Sustainable Development Institute (FNQLSDI) has announced the official launch of the first call for projects under the Indigenous Leadership Fund for Biodiversity Conservation.

This call is open to First Nations wishing to carry out biodiversity conservation initiatives aligned with the targets of the provincial government's 2030 Nature Plan.

Projects may address a variety of themes, including:

• The promotion of First Nations knowledge, practices, and uses related to biodiversity conservation
• The development of First Nations knowledge and capacity in biodiversity conservation
• The creation of protected areas or other conservation initiatives under First Nations leadership

Project submission deadline: September 5, 2025

Selected projects will receive financial support and, if needed, personalized guidance throughout their implementation. To consult the eligibility criteria, submission guidelines, and project application form, visit their website:
