We’re pleased to share that the 2025 phase of construction is on track to have North Railway Street opened by the end of October. Upgrades you will see include wider sidewalks, new boulevard trees, improved connectivity, a new roundabout at Lineham Avenue, improved street lighting and more! Thank you for your patience!
Update & What’s Next?
- Deep underground water & sewer construction is finished; everyone is back on permanent water/sewer services.
- The contractor was primarily working in the centre of the roadway until recently; going forward, they will be working right up to property lines.
- Finishing demolition work to make space for new buried power.
- Landscaping & concrete work (for sidewalks/boulevards); road re-paving will follow.

A reminder that the next phase of downtown improvements is expected to begin in May 2026. Similar to the 2025 work, it will include upgrades to underground infrastructure, streetscapes and public spaces along North Railway Street. This phase will also replace aging infrastructure on part of Alberta Avenue. Construction will extend along North Railway Street from McRae Street to Alberta Avenue, and along Alberta Avenue from North Railway Street to the alley.
