Update on CUPE 2269 Job Action

On October 2, CUPE 2269 began job action in certain District of Squamish departments. This currently includes an overtime ban in Public Works, and not performing certain job-specific tasks in Bylaw Services and Recreation Services.

The patience of the public is appreciated during this time. The District’s goal is to reach an agreement with the Union that is fair and works to address affordability and work/life balance concerns that employees have raised, while ensuring the District remains responsible to taxpayers given the substantial tax and utility fee pressures anticipated in the coming years.

Let's Talk Budget 2026

October/November is budget time! This coming Tuesday, October 7, Council will be reviewing the General Fund and beginning a deep-dive into the budget. Follow along with Council's discussions about the draft 2026-2035 Financial Plan and weigh in while important decisions are considered.

What we are working to solve:

How can we continue to manage future growth, upgrade our infrastructure, and create complete neighbourhoods that meet our community needs, all while ensuring that tax increases to residents and businesses are manageable?

We hope you will consider attending one, some, or all of the in-person engagement opportunities.

More information at Let's Talk Budget 2026.

Watermain flushing will begin Monday, October 6, throughout Squamish to remove stagnant water and unwanted buildup within the pipes.
