Rabies through a One Health lens

Rabies remains a significant public health concern in Canada. Historically a shared responsibility across animal and public health agencies at provincial and territorial levels, shifting disease dynamics could necessitate new approaches to rabies management across sectors and jurisdictions. This blog outlines rabies occurrence in Canada and highlights how a One Health lens can be applied to rabies prevention and control.

Enhancing Public Health Management of Chemical Incidents Through Collaboration with Poison Centres

The 2025 Global Health Security Initiative Symposium, hosted by the Chemical Events Working Group in partnership with NCCEH, took place virtually on February 6, 13, and 20, 2025. This event focused on enhancing public health management of chemical incidents through collaboration with poison centers, attracting over 565 participants from 70 countries. Vision 2030: Moving data to public health action 

Public Health Agency of Canada is pleased to share the final report of “Vision 2030: Moving data to public health action.” This vision was developed through extensive engagements with approximately 1,800 participants, including public health professionals, academics, Indigenous health experts, and the public, and was guided by a surveillance expert round table.  

Vision 2030 highlights the desired states and characteristics of a high-functioning public health surveillance “system of systems”, along with opportunities for action and examples of progress by public health partners across Canada.   

National Assessment Process: Call for authors

Canada’s National Assessment Process is currently seeking Coordinating Lead Authors, Lead Authors, Contributing Authors and Student Leaders for the new report ‘Living in Our Changing Climate’ (title TBC). The authors will lead the development of various chapters, covering topics such as ecosystems, water, food, energy, infrastructure, and the economy.
