Moving Forward With Intention

The City has adopted its first-ever Accessibility and Inclusion Plan, advancing ongoing efforts to make everyday life in Coquitlam more welcoming, accessible and inclusive for residents and visitors. The Plan builds on the City’s long-standing work to enhance accessibility in the community.

Housing Update
City Exceeds First Housing Target

Just six months into the first reporting year, 1,032 net-new housing units have been built in Coquitlam, surpassing the first-year target of 972 units that was set by the Province. As one of the region’s fastest-growing cities, Coquitlam continues to call for stronger provincial investment in the infrastructure required to support housing and population growth.

A Streamlined Plan
Draft Interim Official Community Plan

After a first reading at Council, a streamlined draft interim Official Community Plan (OCP) is closer to complete. OCPs exist to guide a city’s growth. This interim update is designed to simplify Coquitlam’s OCP — currently over 1,000 pages — into a more concise document that’s easier to use and refer to when making planning decisions.

Free Sport Equipment Stations

Something new has landed in Coquitlam parks. Free sport equipment stations are now available in 14 parks across the city, offering easy access to balls and recreational gear right where you play. Download the Equip Sport app to unlock a box and get moving.

Fix your Favourite Items April 25

Bring a household item in need of some TLC to our spring Repair Café where our volunteer experts can help you fix it for free! Drop in on Saturday, April 25, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Dogwood Pavilion. Don't miss this chance to give your belongings new life and save them from the landfill.

Yard Trimmings
Pick-Ups April 13 – May 22

Our Seasonal Unlimited Yard Trimmings program lets you dispose of spring yard debris. Simply set out your extra yard waste in labeled garbage cans, paper bags, or bundles on your regular collection day by 7:30 am, and a truck will collect them at no extra charge.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (HUN-kuh-MEE-num) word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-KWET-lum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
