Jerusalem Sunday - June 2, 2019

An opportunity for Anglicans in Canada to learn more about and support God’s mission in the Diocese of Jerusalem. Parishes are encouraged to use liturgical resources, which can be found through the link below, in celebration of Jerusalem Sunday. Parishes and individuals are also invited to make an offering to support important health care work in the Diocese of Jerusalem.

ASIST - Learn the skills - help save a life.

St. Paul’s Anglican Church invites you to attend this two-day workshop.

ASIST - Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training. Which teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety.

Calling on our young friends of Centre 454 to help make friendship bracelets

This year Centre 454 will be celebrating 65 years of service! The Centre provides personal and practical supports to those who are homeless and at risk of homelessness. Most importantly, we are a community that supports one another! We offer programs that are inclusive and provide opportunities for everyone to be engaged.

We are inviting you to help fundraise with us by making friendship bracelets which we will sell to the greater community. Don’t worry about them being perfect because each one will be perfect because you made it! We think this would be a great activity for children and youth, though people of all ages can join in! You can choose your own design and if you aren’t sure of how they are made you can find a tutorial online.

We are grateful to you for wanting to help out. Your contribution will impact the lives of so many just in knowing that you care.

Cornerstone - Tamarak Race Weekend

Cornerstone Housing for Women is now an approved charity at Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend, May 25-26, 2019.

Please come out and run, walk and roll at any of the events, while fundraising for Cornerstone. Our goal this year is to have ten registrants sign-up and support Cornerstone Housing for Women.

Bring your children or grand-children out to a 2k or family run, come out and run or walk a 5k. Plus, there are half marathon or full marathon events.

We will be creating a Cornerstone team and would love if you would join us.

Top fundraisers will have a chance to win great prizes, as well as the chance to win a party catered by our own cordon-blue trained Chef Paul.

Staff update

Effective June 14, 2019, Ms. Leslie Giddings will be leaving her position as Learning Facilitator for the Diocese of Ottawa. Leslie has been with the Diocese for five years and over this time has made many positive contributions to diocesan ministries, including her work with the Youth Internship Program, Open Table, the School of Parish Development, Marriage Prep, and spiritual care in both secondary and post-secondary schools around Ottawa. As well, Leslie has made a significant contribution to our parish ministries in a variety of ways. We thank God for Leslie’s ministry to the Diocese and wish her well in all future endeavours.

211 Ontario, Second Harvest & Food Rescue

Ontario 211 Services, in collaboration with local 211 data partners, are working with Second Harvest Food Rescue to help match donated surplus food from retailers/businesses with local non-profit organizations who provide food and meals in their communities.
 

About Second Harvest and Foodrescue.ca

A project recently completed by Second Harvest and Value Chain Management International (VCMI), “The Avoidable Crisis of Food Waste,” identified that considerable amounts of surplus edible food is not reaching those in need. As part of its food rescue efforts, Second Harvest has launched a sophisticated online tool called Foodrescue.ca (FR.ca). FR.ca connects businesses possessing surplus edible food (donors) with food agencies and organizations (recipients), thereby enabling more food to be recovered and redistributed than otherwise possible. To develop a strategy for rolling out FR.ca nationally and which complements Canada's food policy, VCMI is geographically mapping the barriers and challenges of organizations involved in the recovery and redistribution of surplus food in Ontario and nationally. The project is a world first.

Participation from Food Security Agencies and Agencies which Provide Food to Clients

To enable VCMI (working on behalf of Second Harvest) to understand the barriers and challenges associated with surplus food recovery and redistribution, the survey below has been created to gather insights from those of you who provide food or food programs in your communities. The information will not only help to shape the online matching tools, but will also identify where there might be service gaps that can be filled with donated food from businesses in your area, along with the incidence and impact of identified barriers and challenges geographically. The survey should take no longer than 5-10 minutes to complete. The survey deadline is Friday, June 14, 2019.

Together With Christ - Respect Justice Camp

August 13 - 19, 2019

What if we begin with the assumption that God is in every person we meet and creation itself? How does/could/should this impact the ways in which we relate to all around us? These are the foundational questions of Respect Justice Camp. This camp is hosted by the Diocese of Huron in the Deanery of Essex with the hopes of continuing the wonderful tradition of engaging people of faith in issues of justice. Open to persons 18 yrs. and older.
