Research highlights from the BC Renal network

Hello BC Renal research community,

In this issue, we are pleased to feature five stories about published studies as well as a researcher profile and a fellowship opportunity. As always, BC kidney researchers have had additional studies published over the past several months. For additional learning, please see those studies listed as text links below!

Disaster roadmap and hemodialysis support team facilitate emergency response

Many people living with kidney disease require frequent health care, especially when dialysis is part of their treatment – but emergencies such as wildfires, drought and other disasters can disrupt their access to care. Fortunately, a collaboration of researchers from across Canada has outlined a novel ”disaster roadmap” for how to continue the delivery of care during an emergency. “Transitioning to pediatric nephrology was a huge learning curve,” she recalls. “But I am extremely grateful for the supportive environment within the division of nephrology at BC Children’s, where further education, publishing, and getting involved have always been very much encouraged.”
