New RHA privileges for NP Practice

We are pleased to share that recent legislative updates have expanded opportunities for NPs to enhance access to care. As of October 2025, provincial legislation now authorizes NPs, to admit, care for and discharge specific client populations in the hospital setting, and use diagnostic services, when granted privileges by the Regional Health Authorities (RHAs). The following documents have been updated to reflect these changes:

For questions regarding these changes and your practice, please contact a Nurse Consultant at consultation@cnnb-opinb.ca. For questions related to their implementation in your practice setting, please consult your employer.

NEW Practice Guideline: Scope of Practice

Do you question if specific activities are within scope? The NEW practice guideline provides a framework to assist in determining this. The Practice Guideline: Scope of Practice replaces the Scope of Practice Toolkit.
