Head down to Maffeo to see Murfitt and Main starting at 6 pm and enjoy some tasty eats for Food Truck Friday! Murfitt & Main plumb the depths of country, bluegrass, and western swing, playing home-made songs steeped in the living tradition of roots music. Their original songs possess a clarity rooted in the musical traditions of rural Canada, in a contemporary voice. Heartbreak, honky-tonks, whiskey, unions, religion, the Canadian terrain, and the Berlin wall are all fair game in their songwriting. Sweet vocal harmonies draw listeners in adding that high lonesome country sound to the mix. CONCERTS IN THE PARKS LINE-UP | | Long Weekend Vibes May long weekend is coming up and that means there will be limited hours at City facilities. City offices and recreation centres will be closed on Monday, May 18 with the exception of the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre, which is open from 12-4 pm. Get on the Future Voters List to make voting easier come election day. | | Sea Level Rise Plan - Phase 2 With over 30 km of coastline, Nanaimo is fortunate to have these natural spaces that provide endless community and environmental benefits. As climate change causes sea levels to rise, we will need to develop resilient strategies to help our community respond to coastal changes. The City of Nanaimo, working with Snuneymuxw First Nation, is developing a Sea Level Rise (SLR) Management Plan to guide coastal adaptation solutions for areas of Nanaimo at risk of coastal flooding. With Phase 1 complete, we are entering Phase 2. You can participate through a survey beginning on May 19 and attend an information session on May 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the Vancouver Island Conference Centre's Dodd Narrows Room A.
