Happy National Volunteer Week!
Celebrating Our Patient Partners' Empathy in Action

This year’s National Volunteer Week (April 24-30) shares the idea that Volunteering Is Empathy in Action. We want to extend our most heartfelt thanks for everything our patient partners do to improve health care in BC.

Thank You From Our Health Care Partners
Let's take a moment to reflect on the great work that patient partners have contributed over the years! We've gathered special thank you messages from across the province to share.

A Special Video Celebrating Patient Partners' Accomplishments
We asked a few familiar faces from the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council to share their messages of thanks in a video.

Celebrate With Other Patient Partners
Coming up on April 26 from 12:00 – 1:00 PM, we’re inviting patient partners to join us for a social connection and a chance to celebrate at a virtual party! We’ll share stories of impact and you’ll hear from guest speakers from the Council.

From BC to Brazil: Patient Engagement Goes Global

When PVN patient partner Aline Silva saw the chance to combine her passion for health technology with her experiences as a patient, she jumped at the chance. Aline’s dedication to patient engagement has gone global through her connections to Brazil and Canada.

Acknowledging Partnerships During
Patient Experience Week

This week is also Patient Experience Week which celebrates health care staff who impact the patient experience every day. Together, patient and health care partners know best how to improve health care. By engaging patients, families and caregivers, health care teams can ensure their work reflects the experiences of those it impacts.

Sharing the "So What?" of Patient Engagement

Our Patient Engagement Learning Series is a one-stop shop to develop your skills for authentic patient engagement and bring health care and patient partners together to strengthen their work.

The first session focused on the most important things to consider when starting out as a health care – patient partner team. The second session was all about cultural safety in patient engagement and how to use these principles to engage with Indigenous patient partners. The third centred diversity, equity and inclusion and how to safely engage patient partners.

Register now for the last session in the series, Measuring the Success and Impact of Patient Engagement – Evaluation and Closing the Loop, which takes place on May 11 from 12:00 – 1:00 PM!
