This invasive exotic species has not yet colonized our lake, and we're working hard to prevent its introduction. Here are a few tips: - When you take your dock out of the water in the fall, take the time to inspect it.
- Zebra mussels cling firmly to submerged surfaces. They often prefer places sheltered from the sun and current.
- Check for zebra mussels on dock legs, under ladder steps, on concrete blocks, ropes and chains.
- Stay alert! Zebra mussels can be tiny.
Want to learn how to identify them? Take a look at this leaflet (in French only). To find out more about the species, consult this leaflet. We'd like to remind you that boat cleaning is the best way to prevent the introduction of zebra mussels into Brome Lake. The boat wash will be open daily until September 29, then on weekends until October 14.
