DANCES AROUND THE WORLD

— August 12, at 8:30 p.m. (Théâtre de Verdure of the Parc Lafontaine in Montreal)

During this joyful, light and accessible concert, you will hear the music that accompanies the dances of several countries. Some are tender, other vigorous and irresistibly uplifting. From the Austrian march to the Argentinian tango, from the Romanian, Hungarian, Gypsy and Greek dances to the Viennese waltz, from the German ländler to the Quebec rigodon, you will have all the colours and tastes.

Did you know? Schubert’s Maiden and the Death derives its name from the lied Der Tod und das Mädchen, D 531, based on a poem by Matthias Claudius that Schubert wrote 7 years earlier, in 1817. Originally, death was a kind and gentle welcome for the sick girl who was about to die.
