Waste Collection: Where to Put Your Bin?

During winter, the positioning of your bins can cause a lot of headaches for Public Works crews dedicated to snow removal operations.

It’s your responsibility to make sure your bin is properly positioned, even after snow removal operations have been completed.

To make their job easier, here’s what to do:

  • Place your bin in your driveway, NOT on the shoulder, sidewalk or street.
  • Always position your bin with the wheels facing backwards (towards your residence).
  • If you have several bins, place them at least 18 inches apart; otherwise they will NOT be collected.

Extrication Vehicle Practice by the Fire Safety Service

In February, firefighters practised extrication techniques. The aim of the exercise was to improve their rescue skills.

This is essential training for the safe and effective extrication of victims trapped in vehicles during emergencies.

The team reviewed several safety protocols, as well as using tools such as “jaws of life” on a disabled vehicle. Firefighters also practised glass management and vehicle stabilization methods.

The exercise demonstrated their commitment and preparedness to deal with any emergency, reflecting their dedication to community safety.

Budding Anglers on Brome Lake

A dozen young people had the opportunity to learn more about ice fishing on February 9, 2025.

Accompanied by their parents, they took a one-hour theoretical course on fishing regulations and safety instructions for this winter activity.

Each youngster, aged between 6 and 17, then received a Pêche en herbe (budding angler) certificate, which will serve as their fishing permit until they reach the age of 18.

A big thanks to all budding anglers!
