Street sweeping As winter recedes, it leaves behind salt, sand and debris on our roads. The Township's street sweeping program aims to clear these remnants, ensuring storm sewers remain unclogged and roads safe for everyone. The program is scheduled to begin in mid to late spring and is typically completed by the season's end, though timing may vary due to weather conditions. Residents are advised not to park on residential streets during sweeping operations to assist in the process, which starts in the main villages and extends to rural areas. For more information, visit king.ca/StreetSweeping. Please continue to volunteer, shop locally as much as you can and visit king.ca for the latest news on all things King. Potholes are caused by water seeping into cracks in the road. When the water freezes, it expands, causing the asphalt to crack and break apart. As temperatures fluctuate, this process repeats, leading to the formation of potholes. King’s Public Works department is using cutting-edge technology, including artificial intelligence software, to locate potholes and other road failures. As our staff drive along patrol routes, the AI software identifies potholes and uploads the information to the cloud. This data is then used to create work orders for repairs. To report a pothole and make a repair request, visit king.ca/Transportation. | Street sweeping in King to start mid to late spring King Township has an annual sweeping program that takes place in the spring. Sand and debris are swept from King’s roads to prevent materials from clogging the storm sewers and to provide a safe and clean roadway for all users. Debris accumulated over the winter season is swept from King’s paved roads. Street sweeping is anticipated to start in mid to late spring and is usually completed by the end of spring, weather permitting. Street sweeping timelines may vary year to year due to the unpredictability of the weather. Sweeping will commence by sweeping the roadways in the Township's main villages first, then move outwards to smaller communities and rural areas. Visit king.ca/StreetSweeping for more information. | Sod damaage claims deadline is April 30 Snow plow operators face many challenges including poor visibility, pedestrians, parked cars, atypical sidewalk alignments, overgrowth of sod and slippery conditions.
