Message from the President

Dear members, dear partners,

This Friday, October 9 at 10 a.m., we will launch the results of the Study on the Perception of the Next Generation of Aerospace Industry Workers in the presence of Jean Boulet, Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Solidarity and Minister responsible for the Mauricie region.

At a time when our energy is focused on implementing solutions to ensure a quick and effective recovery, we must remain vigilant with respect to our succession.

Let’s keep in mind the long development cycles that characterize our industry: the innovations we are working on today are those that will enable our industry to stand out in 10 years. And behind these innovations and their implementation, more than 43,400 workers are working every day.

For more than eight decades, the Québec aerospace industry has been able to encourage, train and develop a highly specialized workforce to successfully carry out its projects. This exceptional know-how is the pride of Quebecers and the envy of many countries around the world.

Yet the perception study conducted by Léger consultants highlights the fact that our industry needs to make additional efforts to attract new generations of workers. And, in the context of a global pandemic where layoffs are occurring regularly, attraction mechanisms must definitely be rethought. What is the next generation’s perception of our industry? What solutions are available to us to attract the interest of those who will contribute to the future, to revive the industry and make it grow? These are all questions that our panel of experts will strive to answer at this event.

We look forward to having many of you join us on Friday,

SUZANNE BENOÎT

The Federal government mobilizes to support SMEs

To enable Québec SMEs to weather the second wave of COVID-19, Ottawa will provide close to $70 million to complement the $211 million already earmarked for the province. The funds will be distributed to SMEs in difficulty through Canada Economic Development for Québec Regions and the Société d’aide au développement des collectivités.
