Learn more | | DISTRICT OF SQUAMISH HOLIDAY HOURS | UPCOMING COUNCIL MEETINGS | VIEW OUR 2022 ASSET MANAGEMENT PLAN | The District of Squamish Asset Management Plan was adopted in June 2022 to safeguard the delivery of essential services long into the future. At the same time, the District adopted its first Natural Asset Management Strategy to manage $1.6B in natural assets that provide municipal services such as our drinking water supply. Together, they address key questions: What assets does the District own or utilize, how much are they worth, when do they need to be repaired or replaced, and how much is needed to invest. Learn more | | SQUAMISH ESTUARY TRAIL NETWORK CLOSED | The Squamish Estuary trail network (Wildlife Management Area) remains CLOSED for at least two weeks following two separate surprise attacks involving individuals and a sow with a yearling on Thursday, November 3. Barricades and signage have been placed at all entrances to keep the public from entering. The public is asked to respect the closure for their own safety and to help ensure the survival of the bears. Residents should use extra vigilance when out on any trail across Squamish during this important feeding stage as bears prepare to hibernate. Consider travelling in pairs or groups, keep dogs on leash, make noise and carry bear spray. These two serious incidents are a reminder that bears can be unpredictable and that being alert and prepared on the trail could save a life. Please continue to report any wildlife sightings or encounters to the Conservation Officer Service Hotline at 1.877.952.7277. View the update | | GET IN THE KNOW AND HAVE YOUR SAY!
