Congratulations to Dr. Hannah Wittman, whose work with Dr. Alexandra Lyon and Dr. Harriet Friedman regarding UBC Farm's Seed Hub was recognized by AASHE!

Their publication examine seed sovereignty, showing that seed-related research in public universities can contribute to transforming seed systems from privatized enclosures to a "seed commons." : http://doi.org/10.1525/elementa.2021.00089.

IRES and the Faculty of Land and Food Systems are seeking an interdisciplinary scholar who uses econometric and other quantitative techniques to investigate human dimensions of biodiversity conservation. For example, research interests may include how individual and institutional actions affect conservation outcomes, or how biodiversity conservation affects aspects of human well-being. Review of applications will begin on November 25, 2021 and continue until the position is filled.

Call for Applications: Environmental Innovator’s Award Academic Poster Competition

The Environmental Managers Association of BC (EMA of BC) invites students of BC post-secondary institutions currently enrolled in an environmental-related technology, undergraduate, graduate or legal program to submit a poster based on their original academic research for consideration of the Environmental Innovator’s Award. A total of $1500 will be awarded to students of the top three posters!

Application Deadline: December 15, 2021.

Call for Applications: Research Assistant for Naomi Klein, UBC Professor of Climate Justice

Naomi Klein is looking for an experienced graduate student researcher to assist with various writing and teaching projects beginning immediately. The researcher will be responsible for primary research and fact checking for articles, lectures, papers, and book projects.

Please send cover letter, resume and one research sample (a paper or article that you contributed to substantively) to: klp123@gmail.com. Applicants may also submit one short (no longer than 1000 words) writing sample.
