SOCIO-POLITICAL ACTION
Racism in the health and social services system?

The APTS is inviting all of its members to take part in an online survey that will help ensure that our actions against racism are effective and collect information for the newly established provincial committee on cultural diversity and racism. The survey is intended to take stock of racism as it currently exists in the health and social services system and to identify members’ concerns as well as possible solutions. A video has also been made to encourage reflection and motivate people to answer the survey. Focusing on APTS members talking about their experience as members of racialized groups, it will be launched at this week’s General Council.

The survey will be on line until December 18. We encourage you to promote it in your institution and to share the video. If you have any questions, please write to us at sociopolitique@aptsq.com.

Gender and sexual diversity flags: order them now

A gorgeous visual was unveiled in September by the committee on gender and sexual diversity. Flags displaying this visual are now being offered by the APTS to local executives (up to three flags per executive, depending on your needs). To place your order, fill out the form and send it to sociopolitique@aptsq.com by December 11. You can use the flag at mobilization activities and other events. Show your colours! National and local logos will be unveiled over the next few weeks – we’ll keep you posted.

COMMUNICATIONS
Translation policy

Our translation policy was adopted by the General Council in April 2010. Last summer, the APTS undertook to update this policy to make sure it reflects current practices. Provincial representatives and presidents of local executives in bilingual institutions were consulted, and on November 13, a meeting was held between them and the two translators, the director of the communications department, and APTS president Andrée Poirier. Following these exchanges, the communications department has now finalized a draft version of the updated translation policy. This will be submitted to the Provincial Council for approval on December 9 and presented to General Council delegates for adoption in early 2021.
