Dairy Cattle Industry Forum

Lactanet’s 2025 Dairy Cattle Industry Forum, co-hosted with STgenetics, took place in Montreal, from September 16th to 17th. It brought together over 90 leaders from across the dairy industry to explore the themes of leadership and where the industry is headed.

  • Genetic Innovation & Leadership: Experts presented insights on managing genetic abnormalities and shaping future dairy leadership, sparking important conversations about the future of the industry and how we must adapt to ongoing change.
     
  • Celebrating 30 Years of Progress: A panel of CDN pioneers reflected on the foundational steps taken in 1995 to provide genetic evaluations for dairy cattle breeds in Canada.
     
  • Sustainability & Traceability: Sessions highlighted the Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (CRSB) and its value to retailers as well as the role of DairyTrace in the CRSB program.
     
  • Technological Shift: Advancements in genetic gain through reproductive technologies were presented, complemented by insights from three progressive producers sharing their on-farm experiences with implementing new tools.
