As Chair of the Francophonie committee, we want to highlight the tremendous success of the 2016 celebrations. With more than 200 events, the "accents" of the Francophonie was heard everywhere in New England!

Celtics Franco Night Kicked Off the Celebrations
February 29 | Boston, MA
 
 
More than 600 people gathered for a game between the Boston Celtics and the Utah Jazz. Congratulations to the EFGB students opening the game by wearing their t-shirts Je parle français. Our team also enjoyed meeting francophones and francophiles attending the event!
 2,000 students sang with Webster
February 29 to March 12 | New-England
Québec hip hop artist Webster visited more than 20 New England schools for a series of poetic writing workshops, concerts and conferences during his tour in Vermont and Massachusetts!

Voyages en Francophonie
March 5 | Lexington, MA
 
A family celebration of francophone cultures around the world organized by EFGB, the event offered musical performances, such as Webster.
 
French Writing Workshop with Webster
March 12 | Boston, MA
 
Webster conducted a writing workshop at the French Cultural Center in which participants learned various theoretical concepts on French literary tools and the traditional structure of hip-hop.
9 élèves performed at the State House
March 23 | Boston, MA
 
The Francophonie Ceremony showcased the 9 élèves project in support of education in Haiti with a song composed during a writing workshop with Webster.

Four films were presented throughout the month of March during the festival at the Coolidge Corner Theater : Le Grand Voyage (Switzerland), Les Conquérants (France), Le Rang du Lion (Québec/Canada) and Louis Cyr (Québec/Canada)
 
Ciné-Québec
March 10 | Woonsocket, RI
 
The Museum of Work & Culture  held a screening of 3 short films from Québec and France. The evening ended with the presentation of the winner in the category Best Short Film of the 2016 Césars, La Contre-allée (France).
Dictée de la francophonie
March 7 | Boston, MA
 
A crowd of all ages came to test its French knowledge at the 7th edition of the annual event, hosted by Lycée International de Boston and Boston Accueil. The winners had the chance to win many prizes, such as Je parle français t-shirts and books by Québec authors.
1,600 students celebrate
la Grande Fête de la Francophonie des Écoles
April 1 | Providence, RI
More than 30 schools from New England participated in the largest gathering of students of French ever held in the state. Providence Mayor, Jorge Elorza, and Congressman, Jim Langevin, underscored the importance of French in the region's heritage. Music band Swing and Sidy Maiga "wowed" the audience.
