Wishing you the happiest holiday season

What Does a Successful 2022 Look Like?

What does it mean to be successful? Well to some that means the bottom line, money! Or it could mean an influx of customers, industry awards and accolades or just the satisfaction of a job well done!
Everyone measures success differently and yet all can be correct. How we measure our business success is a personal choice but here are a few ways to do it in a strategic way.

Keep Ahead of the Game
In the modern business world, the ability to change direction quickly is key to staying ahead of your competition. A pivot doesn’t have to be a complete transformation of your business model. It could mean changing your marketing strategy, upping your social media presence or just focusing on what you do best! Concentrate on what has brought you the most customers and build on it.

Plan, Plan, Plan
Having a well-written business plan is one of the best ways to start the year strong. Careful planning allows you to stay focused, organized and keeps you on the path to achieving your goals. In fact, you’re more likely to reach your goals when you write them down.

Be Prepared
Using “what if” scenarios to recognize certain outcomes can help determine which direction to take when something unexpected happens. Learning how to consider the different directions that your industry may take in the future can help you intentionally map your future moves, come up with a plan B, and protect yourself against uncertainty.

Consider reaching out to a fellow colleague, local expert or someone you know who has achieved great success. It is only through sharing and supporting each other that we survive together and prosper!

When the Royal Duke hotel opened in 1905 it boasted top-of-the-line amenities, including over 40 rooms, a large dining room, billiard room, bar, and a showroom for salesmen to show off their wares. The hotel proved so popular that a large expansion was needed just a year after opening. The success of the Grand Central helped shift the Town's commercial centre a few blocks west from the area around the station. The hotel was torn down in 1928 and replaced by the Willingdon Hotel, now known as the Royal Duke. In those early days, hotels played an important role in the community: after all, the first two businesses in the Okotoks area were stopping houses. Many people in Alberta were transient, as the book Century of Memories explains: “There were steady boarders and many people stopped overnight or just for a meal. Many rested on their way to a new home.” One such boarder was Dr. A. E. Ardiel, who briefly took advantage of the hotel and its convenient stables to ride about making house calls.
