Theyâve teamed up to create an online software application that helps quilters create, plan, and visualize their own quilts in fun and surprising ways. PreQuilt comes equipped with multiple grid layouts, solid fabric swatches from all the major manufacturers (like Kona and Free Spirit), preloaded common blocks, a printed fabric swatch importer, and the ability to custom build your own quilt blocks. And coming soon â fabric requirements! In this demo, Laura will talk about some examples for how you can use PreQuilt in your quilting practice. She believes PreQuilt is one of the best ways to preview your quilt before cutting into your fabrics, and to get excited about get started. Their motto: PreQuilt twice, cut once! PreQuilt.com | Who doesnât love a good modern-fashioned swap?! Hereâs your opportunity to get in on one. Weâre gearing up for the December meeting and organizing a modern pouch swap, read on for the details⌠Design, size, and fabric is up to you, please make it modern. Since itâs holiday time, we thought itâd be nice to include a little bonusâa small sewing notion, valued at no more than $10, such as a package of needles, a spool of thread or a stitch ripper. If you donât want to buy anythingâthatâs totally fineâmake something out of your scraps, like a mug rug or pin cushion, and pop that into the pouch. Weâll randomly swap the pouches ensuring every participant receives a pouch made by another member. Gift wrapping the pouch is optional. Weâll have VMQG modern pouch swap labels available for those who are participating in the swap, you can pick them up at our October or November meeting, or make your own label. Details in the sign-up form. Donât wait, sign up here (shortest form ever!) | Would you like to help shape the future of our Guild? The Scrappy Wonky Star by Karen at Quilt Expressions is a fun, colourful block. By choosing different values for the star and background fabric your star will jump out at you. Block measures 6.5" x 6.5" (finished 6" x 6") Quilt block photos by Karen Hanson (left) and Sue Westrup (right) Block Instructions | Sewing Chair Ergonomics Do you ever experience a pain in the neck from sewing? (not the kind of pain you get when you cut your fabric wrong.) It could be that your set-up needs adjusting. Healthy Quilting posted a helpful article that outlines why sewing chair ergonomics is important and how you can how to adjust your seating position for maximum health benefits. The article also include links to cutting table height and ironing board height. #lesspainmoregain Bonus Pro Tip from Carolann I was getting a lot of pain sewing, and my physio and I figured this out. Put a box or a piece of wood about the same height as your presser foot under your non-driving foot to balance out your lower back. I just use a piece of 2x4 under my left foot, and it works! Thanks for the tip Carolann If you have a tip, please email it to us, weâll share it and give you a shout out! 𤊠| đ Reminders WIPs are due October 31st.
