THE RANKIN REPORT

The BLT Food Truck Festival is this weekend!

Dear Timberlea-Prospect Residents,

June is an exciting time of the year as the academic school year starts to wrap up, preparations for graduation ceremonies and proms are in full swing, and students, teachers, and families look forward a more relaxed time of year to enjoy the warm weather, explore our beautiful province, and make new memories.

I always look forward to attending the high school graduation ceremonies and enjoy seeing the new talent coming forward and students taking on new roles.

Whatever pathway graduates take from here, I hope they will always challenge themselves, nurture their relationships, and have the resolve to keep achieving new heights.

Best wishes to the Class of 2024 celebrating this milestone event.

As we approach the end of the school year, I hope you and your family explore our province, attend summer festivals, and try new outdoor adventures in Nova Scotia. Here are a few suggestions to consider this summer.

  1. Halifax Waterfront. Enjoy a stroll along Halifax Harbour this summer. There is always entertainment, restaurants, bars, shops, and museums along the water’s edge to visit or you can sit back with an ice cream and take in the energy and activity along the harbour.
  2. Cape Breton Highlands. The Cape Breton Highlands National Park is a must-see visit that will leave you speechless and in awe of the beauty. The hiking trails, beaches glorious look-off points, and unbelievable abundance of trees will leave a lasting impression and the desire to return again and again.
  3. Tidal Bore Rafting. Feel the power of the world’s highest tides by riding the waves in the Bay of Fundy. You will be amazed by the speed of the tide that swoops in and takes you for a roller coaster ride along the Shubenacadie River. To round out this adventure, do not forget to try the mud slide at the end of the rafting.
  4. Kejimkujik National Park. Recognized for its old growth forest, rare wildlife and traditional Mik’Kmaw waterways. Keji offers a range of camping options, biking, and hiking trails. Make it a day trip or enjoy a few days in this National Park and National Historic Site.
  5. Enjoy a day at the Beach. Nova Scotia is surrounded by 13,000 kilometres of stunning coastline and is referred to as Canada’s ocean playground boasting a variety of beaches that include sandy shorelines, rocky shorelines, and various amenities to enhance your day at the beach.

I look forward to seeing you at the annual Food Truck Festival.

As always, I remain proud to serve Timberlea-Prospect,

Iain Rankin

We have been notified that a portable classroom will be required to help ease enrolment pressures at BLT Senior for the 2024-25 school year.

BLT Community Pantry

Thank you to Barb Charteris, Colleen Kelly, and Ann-Marie Grad for helping fill the BLT Community Pantry #1 located by my office.

It’s been very inspiring to see how our community has embraced this project and to see how much we can accomplish when we come together to support each other.

I see a steady stream of people stopping by the pantry to help keep it stocked and wish to thank everyone for their contributions.
