BCIT Trades and Technology Complex Update Thanks to the visionary leadership of generous donors of the INSPIRE Campaign, the BCIT Trades and Technology Complex is making headway. Anchored by the Concert Properties Centre for Trades and Technology, the Complex includes the Robert Bosa Carpentry Pavilion, a Marine and Mass Timber Pavilion, and a Campus Services Centre. The project also includes the restoration and daylighting of a section of Guichon Creek that is currently culverted. Over the last few quarters, we have been working closely with our partners from the Ministry to ensure their labour requirements are successfully integrated into the procurement and delivery of this unique and varied set of projects. After a considerable amount of work confirming project-specific strategies, we are excited to begin subtrade tendering in spring 2025 for the first components of the following projects: The Robert Bosa Carpentry Pavilion, Marine and Mass Timber Pavilion, and Campus Services Centre. | | The Robert Bosa Carpentry Pavilion will be an example of innovative, sustainable “wood first” design that will showcase BCIT’s commitment to the Mass Timber industry. The Pavilion will be an exciting new learning and teaching space for BCIT students and faculty, and for the trades industry. Construction is projected to be completed in 2027. | | | The Marine and Mass Timber Pavilion will be a hybrid steel and mass timber structure, and will provide an exciting new home for Marine, Steel, and Mass Timber Trades teaching and learning on the BCIT Burnaby campus. This initiative is projected to be completed in fall/winter 2026. | | | New student housing set to open in August 2025 The construction of the new 12-storey Tall Timber Student Housing is nearing completion in the fall and is set to welcome students in August 2025. The 203,588 ft² building will provide 470 BCIT students with affordable on-campus housing at the Burnaby Campus. The BC government is providing $108.5 million toward the $119.7 million development.
