Hello!

As the seasons begin to change, it's time to explore the activities offered throughout Prince George to help people stay active and engaged. The City of Prince George supports community associations that offer opportunities for recreation throughout our community. The City Prince George Community Association Recreation Guide is now available online through the link below and showcases all programs being offered in one place and is filled with activities and programs suitable for all ages. These programs are put on by the hard-working volunteers of our Community Associations and are open to everyone no matter where you live in Prince George.

You will also find a collection of activities offered by local nonprofit organizations listed below, as well as more information about aquatics, arenas, recreation, and parks in Prince George.

Annual Spring Clean Up registration is now open!

As the snow melts this spring, it will uncover a season's worth of trash and debris. Prince George residents are invited to pitch in to give the city a classic post-winter tidy-up during the Annual Spring Clean Up on Sunday, April 21st.

The Prince George Pisces Swim Club provides simmers with assets that will last a lifetime. The Pisces offers programs for all ages from pre-competitive to the adult/masters program; there is something for everyone. Registration for summer programs is anticipated to open April 2024, follow their social media for up to date information.

Celebrating 60 years of sailing!

The Prince George Sailing Association begins its 60th year of sailing at Cluculz Lake with an AGM in April and spring clean up in May. Small sailboats, windsurfers, dock slips and camping space are available to members.

Explore activities for all ages!

Whether your athlete is 6 or 106 years old, Prince George Track and Field provides track and field activities for beginners to high level competitors, including instruction from certified coaches, equipment and meet opportunities. Outdoor season at Masich Place Stadium begins in April.

Ladies, get ready to Dragon Boat!

The Northbreast Passage Dragon Boat Team is open to all adult women and activities are offered year-round. We are preparing for the summer season of dragon boating, this includes pre-season paddling at the Prince George Aquatic Centre leading to early season lake paddling.

Ready for a transformative journey to a healthier, more vibrant you?

Choose to Move is a FREE 3-month group program which assists older inactive adults to become more physically and socially active. There are group sessions, where physical activity goals are set and participants learn about various health topics.

SCWA's Annual Community Salmon Fry Release

Join us at 1384 River Rd on June 1, 2024 from 11AM-3PM for a free lunch and to release some of the 60,000 salmon fry we have raised in the hatchery this past winter  Local outdoor groups will be set up to showcase their organizations and community events. We hope to see you there!

UNBC & Northern Health Study

A multisectoral physical activity engagement strategy for youth living in Northern British Columbia.

UNBC and Northern Health ar part of a multi-organizational group that has received funding from Research BC, focusing on identifying barriers to youth physical activity in northern and rural communities. They are looking for participants (ages 12-24) living and working with community organizations in Northern and rural BC to participate in workshops during the span of a year.

UBC Run for Rural Medicine

UBC's Run and Ride for Rural Medicine returns this spring!

The Run for Rural Medicine is an annual run, walk and ride fundraiser organized by medical students by UBC's Faculty of Medicine in Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna and Prince George. The event has raised thousands of dollars in its history and is a great way to support healthcare in British Columbia.

Indoor Public Walking Program

Indoor walking is available daily from 8AM to 5PM at the CN Centre, except on Prince George Cougars home game days, special event dates and  statutory holidays. The indoor walking program is planned to conclude on Friday, April 12, 2024.

AFFORDABLE RECREATION FOR LOW INCOME FAMILIES 

The Leisure Access Program (LAP) provides opportunities for residents with limited income to participate in a variety of recreational activities. Leisure Access participants recive complimentary swimming or skating admissions, discounts on lessons, and free transit for children 12 and under (accompanied by adult) on weekends.
