The City of Prince George supports community associations that offer opportunities for recreation throughout our community. The City Prince George Community Association Recreation Guide is now available online through the link below and showcases all programs being offered in one place and is filled with activities and programs suitable for all ages. These programs are put on by the hard-working volunteers of our Community Associations and are open to everyone no matter where you live in Prince George. The Active Living Market hosts a variety of organizations and local businesses that promote and provide active living and recreational activities in our community. The market provides a one stop shop for people of all ages to sign up and learn about programs, activities and special events in our community. Click here for more information! | | Annual Spring Clean Up registration is now open! As the snow melts this spring, it will uncover a season's worth of trash and debris. Prince George residents are invited to pitch in to give the city a classic post-winter tidy-up during the Annual Spring Clean Up on Sunday, April 21st. We are excited to announce that due to the early spring weather Masich Place Stadium will open to public walking, bookings and user groups as of Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Dancing is a unique form of exercise; it provides the health benefits of aerobic exercise while allowing you to engage in a comfortable, social environment. The Prince George Pisces Swim Club provides simmers with assets that will last a lifetime. The Prince George Sailing Association begins its 60th year of sailing at Cluculz Lake with an AGM in April and spring clean up in May. Whether your athlete is 6 or 106 years old, Prince George Track and Field provides track and field activities for beginners to high level competitors, including instruction from certified coaches, equipment and meet opportunities. The Northbreast Passage Dragon Boat Team is open to all adult women and activities are offered year-round. UNBC and Northern Health ar part of a multi-organizational group that has received funding from Research BC, focusing on identifying barriers to youth physical activity in northern and rural communities. They are looking for participants (ages 12-24) living and working with community organizations in Northern and rural BC to participate in workshops during the span of a year. More information can be found on their website. | | UBC Run for Rural Medicine | UBC's Run and Ride for Rural Medicine returns this spring! The Run for Rural Medicine is an annual run, walk and ride fundraiser organized by medical students by UBC's Faculty of Medicine in Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna and Prince George. The event has raised thousands of dollars in its history and is a great way to support healthcare in British Columbia. The indoor walking program is planned to conclude on Friday, April 12, 2024.
