International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) is celebrated annually on June 23rd to recognize the contributions of women in engineering and to promote gender diversity in the field. The day aims to raise awareness, celebrate achievements, and inspire future generations of female engineers. Learn how WorkBC supports Women in trades here.

Essential Computer Skills for the Workplace
Monday June 9 to Friday June 13 | 9:30AM to 3:30PM
WorkBC Vancouver South - 7575 Cambie Street, Vancouver

In this free 5-day training, participants will learn general office administration using computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), including:

  • Marketing materials such as posters and flyers using Word and/or PowerPoint.
  • Excel financial/invoicing spreadsheets and maintaining tracking sheets for record keeping.
  • Word Mail Merge to send out business letters and invitations.
  • Email etiquette for internal and stakeholders’ communication.

Pre-registration required. Please speak with your case manager to register for this series.


Exploring the Labour Market in BC with Statistics Canada
Friday May 30th, 2025 | 12 Noon to 1 PM
WorkBC Midtown West - 2150 W Broadway St

Looking to change jobs or wondering which career to pursue but unsure about the prospects of work in that field? Understanding the labour market will help you make evidence-based decisions to answer these types of questions.

This session will teach participants how to use the Statistics Canada website to find data that will help them understand their labour market and answer these important questions.

The Essential Work Skills for Newcomers Program is accepting registrations! This free 4-week program supports newcomers to gain knowledge and skills to succeed in the Canadian workforce.

Dates: Monday June 23rd – Friday July 18th 2025

Registration deadline: Thursday June 19th (12 noon)
