Help Us Audit Trails at Provincial Parks and Recreation Sites in BC

For the past five years, the Federation of Mountain Clubs of BC (FMCBC) and other groups have been lobbying the Province of B.C. to increase funding for provincial parks. BC Parks has chronically underfunded parks and trails for over 20 years – and the trails we love need some TLC.

What trail are you heading to this weekend or in the coming summertime weeks? Take a hike and help us audit trails! When provincial parks open this summer, we aim to perform trail audits on many popular trails in BC Provincial Parks and Crown lands managed by Recreation Sites and Trails BC.

Find out how you can help and sign up.

Based on these trail audits, a detailed report will be created and presented to BC Parks and elected officials to showcase the importance of funding for trails.

FMCBC requests increased funding and resources for BC Parks

The BC Government requested views of British Columbians on their priorities for the next provincial budget by June 25. The FMCBC made a presentation and submission to the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services to request increased funding and resources for BC Parks.

Tips to Safely and Responsibly Install Trail Markers

Your trail markers are in! But what is the best way to safely install trail markers that will not pose risks to others? Sawmill workers or a park ranger may need to cut down the tree at some point, especially if it becomes hazardous.

We’ve put some tips and best practices together on how volunteers can properly and safely install your new trail markers based on advice from the Ministry of Forests and B.C. Parks. Read more.
