Announcements:

The recently published Provincial Health Order on Hospital and Community (Health Care and Other Services) COVID-19 Vaccination Status Information and Preventive Measures – October 21, 2021 (“the Order”), applies to UBC faculty, staff, and students who are in health care locations for training or research purposes.

If you have not already done so, please ensure that you declare your vaccination status and upload your proof of vaccination immediately at https://rapidtesting.covid19.ubc.ca/.


Funding Opportunities

Interested in advancing inclusion at UBCV and UBCO? Check out upcoming funding opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and community partners. Funding opportunities include the Equity Enhancement Fund (EEF) for faculty and staff, a new Inclusive Initiatives Fund (IIF) for students, and the Partnership Recognition Fund (PRF) for UBC-community partnerships. EEF and PRF deadlines are November 14th and 17th respectively. There is no deadline for the IIF as applications can be submitted by students at any time.

Upcoming on November 4th: Workshop on Graduate Supervision for New Faculty:

In this interactive session, we will share some key principles and practices for supervising graduate students, especially in the current context of Covid-19, and provide a range of strategies, cases, and resources. Designed for new faculty, but open to all faculty members.

Topics will include:

  • Principles and practices of excellent supervision and mentoring
  • Fostering communication and academic progress
  • Maintaining a sense of community
  • Addressing conflicts, issues, and concerns
  • Resources available to support faculty and students
