2026 Digital Parking Permits and New Friends and Family Permits Now Available

Registration is now open for 2026 Digital Resident Parking Permits, and residents are reminded that parking permits must be renewed annually. Vehicles can be registered online through the Town’s website or in person at Town Hall during regular business hours. Proof of residency and vehicle ownership is required at the time of registration.

Once registered, residents can enjoy free parking at all municipally owned paid parking locations, including beaches, parks and trails, simply by registering their licence plate. Please note that resident parking passes do not apply to privately owned paid parking lots, and there is no paid parking in the downtown area.

New for 2026, the Town is pleased to introduce Friends and Family Parking Permits, making it easier for residents to host visiting guests. These temporary digital permits can be purchased for $5 plus HST per day, for up to 14 calendar days. Residents need to provide the visitor’s licence plate number and the dates the permit will be used. Once registered, guest vehicles can park for free at any Town-owned paid parking location.

Corporate Strategic Plan Moves Toward Final Adoption

The Corporate Strategic Plan project continues to move forward toward final adoption, following recent Council review and direction.

A Special Committee of the Whole meeting was held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, where StrategyCorp presented the final draft of the Plan. The draft reflects feedback gathered from Council and the community during the validation phase and information sessions held in late 2025.

During the meeting, Council worked with StrategyCorp to fine-tune the Plan and provide final recommendations prior to adoption. Following the discussion, the Committee voted in favour of endorsing the Corporate Strategic Plan in principle and directed staff to work with StrategyCorp to finalize the document based on Council’s feedback.

The finalized Corporate Strategic Plan will be brought forward at a Special Meeting of Council, on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Town Hall. This meeting will be open to the public and livestreamed on the Town’s website. A recording will also be posted to the project webpage following the meeting for those unable to attend.

To watch the Special Committee of the Whole recording, learn about the work completed to date or subscribe for updates as the Plan moves towards adoption, visit: www.thebluemountains.ca/OurPathForward

Clearing the Way: Help Keep Roads Clear for Safe Snow Removal

As the snowfall continues, the Town would like to remind residents that interference with snow removal operations can prevent plow operators from safely and effectively clearing roads and may result in an Administrative Monetary Penalty.

Residents are asked to do their part and avoid a ticket by ensuring all items are removed from the roadside, including basketball and hockey nets, trailers, and landscaping features. Please also ensure that parked vehicles are not within the roadway. As a reminder, winter parking restrictions are currently in effect until April 1, 2026, and overnight parking is prohibited on all Town streets between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.

When clearing private property, residents are also reminded not to place snow or ice onto Town roadways, including road shoulders, sidewalks, boulevards or ditches.

For more information about winter road maintenance, resident snow removal responsibilities, and parking restrictions, please visit www.thebluemountains.ca/resident-services/road-maintenance/winter-maintenance
