Plan de relance économique du milieu culturel – La ministre Nathalie Roy annonce une aide supplémentaire de 2,5 M$ pour les festivals de musique et de variétés

La ministre de la Culture et des Communications, Mme Nathalie Roy, réitère le soutien du gouvernement du Québec à l’endroit des festivals culturels et accorde une enveloppe supplémentaire de 2,5 M$ à la Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC), société d’État sous sa responsabilité, afin d’appuyer ces événements qui jouent un rôle stratégique dans la promotion de nos artistes et de leur talent.

SiriusXM is starting a TikTok music channel to appeal to the teens

SiriusXM wants to reach the youth, and starting today, it’s going to do so through the cultural cachet of TikTok. Sirius, which owns Pandora and the podcasting company Stitcher, announced a new partnership with the social video app today that’ll bring TikTok-popularized music to the satellite radio provider. TikTok Radio, a new music channel, will broadcast trending sounds through the SiriusXM app, browser, and connected devices. Sirius says tuning in should sound like swiping through TikTok’s “For You” page.

Players can customize their own worlds on the platform. Many illegally upload songs — called “bypassing audio” — and some make intense tracks in a new genre, robloxcore.

Amazon buys MGM in a mega media deal

Amazon is investing even more heavily in growing its position in the entertainment world. The company announced Wednesday that it made a deal to acquire MGM, the home of James Bond and one of the most iconic movie studios in Hollywood.
The deal, which is valued at $8.45 billion, gives Amazon an extensive library of film and TV shows that it can use to fill out its Prime Video content coffers. MGM has a catalog with more than 4,000 films and 17,000 TV shows, according to Mike Hopkins, who heads Prime Video and Amazon Studios.

Songtradr strikes partnership with music licensing platform Melodie

B2B music licensing marketplace Songtradr has announced details of a new partnership with subscription-based licensing platform Melodie.
