Bay Street East Neighbourhood Meeting Follow-Up

Town staff and the Town's engineering consultant, WT Infrastructure, met with local residents on Saturday, December 2 at Bayview Park to discuss the upcoming Bay Street East project. The Town's project team was able to clearly illustrate some of the challenges they face based on existing conditions and residents were able to share their thoughts on different elements of the project. The project team will consider feedback provided through the preliminary design process, along with regulatory requirements, the Town's Official Plan, Transportation Master Plan and Engineering Standards. The first of two planned Public Information Centres are expected to be held in early 2024.

Update on Thornbury West Reconstruction Phase 1B

The Town's Director of Operations provided an update to Council at the November 28 Committee of the Whole meeting regarding the Thornbury West Reconstruction project. At the meeting, it was indicated that a Notice of Motion for reconsideration of a previous Council decision related to the project would be provided at the December 18, 2023 Council Meeting. If five members of Council vote in favour of the motion to reconsider, Town staff would then bring a report concerning the design reconsiderations to a future Committee of the Whole meeting scheduled for 2024.

Seasonal Trail Grooming Returns this Winter

Parks and Trails staff are excited to welcome back hikers, snowshoers and skiers to the trails at the Municipal Golf Course this winter! Access to the recreation complex parking lot is currently closed and will be opened once Mother Nature provides staff with enough snow to properly groom the trails and prevent damage to the golf course.

Dogs are welcome on the trails, but they must be on leash. Allowing your pet to run free in the park could result in a fine. Dog owners looking for an off-leash park can visit Moreau Park in Thornbury or Heritage Park in Craigleith.

Follow the Town on Facebook, Instagram or X to be the first to know when the trails are open.
