Business Success Highlight: Lineham House Galleries

A family business, owned by Cheryl Taylor and Owen Key, offers a full art gallery and gift shoppe in the historic home of the Lineham family who helped to found Okotoks at the turn of the last century.

Built in 1906, it was transformed five years ago into an art and artisan space featuring Alberta artists selling original art. Various rooms display curated paintings in a variety of media, local made by hand pottery, jewellery, sculpture, fibre work, photography and glass.

In the heart of Okotoks' downtown’s heritage district, it is located on beautiful tree-lined Elma Street among other boutique shoppes, cafes and services.

If you are looking for contemporary art and handmade gifts that “feel like Alberta” while you wander a gorgeous Alberta heritage status treasure, look no further than Okotoks' historic home art gallery in Lineham House Galleries.

 Fall Opportunities

Businesses typically see more activity in the summer months with people vacationing, taking day trips and doing small home renovations.

August has historically been the month we transition from summer to fall at month’s end.

Known for new beginnings, fall is the time to seek new opportunities to rejuvenate your businesses, or for a fresh start, and plan for a successful remainder of 2022.

Look at ways to make your business exciting and new for fall. Redo your displays, have an end of summer sale, create new ways to engage with your customers or develop new products and programs.

Small Business Energy Saving Tip

There a many ways to help small businesses save energy; here is the first tip in a series of 12!

Get an energy audit.
An
energy audit can help determine your baseline energy use and offer a clear outline for ways to save energy at work. Many electric utility companies offer free audits. A professional will then come out to your business and do a full inspection of your location to check for air leaks, insulation issues, or opportunities to install energy-efficient lighting.

Pro tip: Make sure to contact your local utility company to inquire about a free audit, not your energy supplier. Check out our comparison of utilities vs energy suppliers here.
