A short note from your Executive Director
It’s officially fall, and I’m all for it.
This is the time of year when I encourage business owners to pause, look at what’s working, and start thinking about the year ahead.
I know, we still have three months left. Still, this is often when I see businesses gain the most momentum. With about 90 days left in the year, those goals from January suddenly feel a lot more immediate. That can be motivating, but it can also be a useful moment to ask: Which goals still matter? What needs to change? And what can we realistically finish before the year is out?
As business owners, we wear a lot of hats, and there isn’t always someone holding us accountable. It’s easy to notice where another business could improve or do things differently. It’s harder to ask whether we’re meeting the same standards ourselves. Are we following through? Are we listening when customers tell us something isn’t working? When we drop a ball, as we all do sometimes, are we willing to pick it up and make it right?
Accountability matters beyond our own businesses, too. We’re in a lively municipal election season, particularly here in Lincoln. As residents and business owners, we have a responsibility to pay attention to the information being presented to us. Get curious, dig deeper and ask questions. We owe it to ourselves to make informed decisions.
That also means showing up. Voting is a privilege, and local elections shape the decisions that affect our businesses and our daily lives. I hope you’ll take the opportunity to hear from the candidates and cast your vote.
To help our community do that, the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce is proud to present two free public events in partnership with the Niagara Association of REALTORS®, hosted at West Niagara Secondary School: the Mayoral Candidates Night on October 13 and the All Candidates Night, including Ward Councillor and School Trustee candidates, on October 15. Residents and business owners are welcome. Please register in advance and submit any questions you’d like considered when you register.
There’s still plenty of year left. Fall gives us a chance to take an honest look at where we are, make a few deliberate choices, and show up for what matters most.
