GOVERNMENT PRESENTS NEW OFFER AT THE CENTRAL TABLE
THE FRONT COMMUN WILL TAKE TIME TO STUDY THE OFFER

Earlier today, Front commun negotiators at the central bargaining table were presented with a comprehensive offer by Treasury Board representatives.

The CSN (Confédération des syndicats nationaux), CSQ (Centrale des syndicats du Québec), FTQ (Fédération des travailleurs et travailleuses du Québec) and APTS (Alliance du personnel professionnel et technique de la santé et des services sociaux) acknowledged the new offer and indicated that they would take time to study it before making any further comment. Despite government claims, this new offer is not an improvement on the previous one, although it is more specific. The Front commun has frequently asked Québec to provide more detailed offers.

The Front commun is always willing to negotiate in order to reach a settlement that will benefit all Quebecers as well as the workers it represents – 420,000 people employed in schools, health and social services, and higher education.

Stay tuned for our next Info-Négo newsletter, which will tell you how we plan to respond to the government offer.

On another topic, premiums and budgets have now been extended at least to the end of June. The government had no other choice but to make this announcement, given the context. A reassessment will be carried out between now and then.

COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS ARE ABOUT TO EXPIRE

Public-sector collective agreements are due to expire in five days, on March 31, 2023. The Front commun will mark the event by a big rally at the Québec City Convention Centre on March 30, providing union members with an opportunity to exchange. Some 2,000 activists will gather to discuss upcoming mobilization actions.
