Success Story - Nilakshi Nag

In February 2024, Nilakshi met Erin Pavan, Manager of WorkBC Midtown West Broadway, at a resume-checking session at Kitsilano Public Library. Erin helped refine the Nilakshi's resume and shared valuable insights on WorkBC’s services. This meeting marked a significant step in Nilakshi's job search, leading her becoming a WorkBC client. Nilashi believes that to benefit from WorkBC’s support, clients must be fully committed, combining hard and smart work. Job searching is described as a full-time job, requiring consistency in networking, applying, attending events, and maintaining job records. Nilakshi successfully landed a job thanks to the support she received from WorkBC!

Junior IT Analyst Training Program

The Junior IT Analyst Program is a tuition-free and beginner program presented by NPower Canada. This course equips participants with marketable skills for tech-enabled jobs. Participants don’t need any prior knowledge of IT, but basic computer skills (Internet, email) are mandatory. The JITA program is for job-seekers who enjoy solving problems, learning new tools and helping others.

The program begins on November 12th 2024.

Baristas Program

Baristas is a six-week employment program for youth 16-30 years old. The program focuses on helping participants find work in the customer service and food industry. Participants achieve certificates in Foodsafe, Serving It Right, and SuperHost. Program facilitators assist participants with job search so they can meet their employment and career goals.

The next cohort will begin in early 2025.
