Starting off the month, we're celebrating Canada Day (July 1), which is a day to celebrate what it means to be Canadian. Celebrate with your community around Metro Vancouver this year by checking out these events.

Please note our centre will be closed on Canada Day.

Networking in Summer

Summer is here, and it's the best time to get outdoors and head to new events, for networking. Remember that networking can be any type of event, not specifically a "Meet the Employer". Sometimes the best networking happens organically through established relationships, or creating new ones!

Basic Life Skills Training: July 8, 2025

Basic Life Skills Training

Interested in support beyond job search? Be prepared for your next job with this Basic Life Skills Training. This workshop prepares participants to be job-ready with a focus on work-life balance.

Dates: July 8-24 (Tuesdays-Thursdays) | 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Location: WorkBC Midtown East: 110 East 3rd Ave

Meet the Employer with Parq Vancouver!

Come and learn about Parq Vancouver, and how it may fit into your career goals. This series focuses on learning the company's values, job opportunities and hiring process. And, this event is exclusive to WorkBC Midtown clients, seats are limited so register early!

Essential Work Skills for Newcomers

This program has the goal to equip newcomers with the skills and knowledge to succeed at work.  This free 4-week program, is accepting registrations now for the next cohort in July! The program is delivered virtually and runs for 2-3 hours a day, three days a week. 

Dates: July 28 - Aug 25, 2025

Registration deadline: July 24, 2025 at 12 p.m.

Intercultural Youth Employment Services (IYES) Program

Join the second cohort of PICS new youth program for those seeking employment. Through a mix of skills development, employment readiness training, and practical work experience, the program aims to empower youth to re-enter the workforce and pursue sustainable careers.

What's included:

  • Various certifications such as Emergency First Aid, Food Safe, Financial Literacy and more. 
  • Four weeks of employment skills training
  • Six weeks of paid work experience
  • 1:1 Career coaching, mentorship and more!

Eligibility:

  • Youth aged 15-30
  • Candian Citizens, Permanent Resident or Refugees with Protected Status
  • Not active in employment, education or training
  • Facing barriers to employment
  • Open to eligible youth, with a focus on Indigenous, racialized, newcomer, 2SLGBTQI+, and youth living with disabilities

Start Date: July 14, 2025

Duration: 10 weeks - fully in-person, Monday - Thursday, for four weeks at Unit #202, 12725 – 80th Avenue, Surrey, BC V3W 3A6

Registration deadline: July 24, 2025 at 12 p.m.
