En-tête Aéro Montréal

Aéro Montréal's mission is to mobilize stakeholders in Quebec's aerospace ecosystem to support its global reach, innovation capacity and growth.

// MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear members, dear partners,

We are fully aware of the obstacles our aerospace SMEs have to overcome to integrate into global supply chains. Growing, becoming stronger and improving competitiveness are imperatives we take to heart. Our Accelerator 360° program has been designed with this in mind.

Much more than an initiative, the Accelerator 360° program is an opportunity for our SMEs to use a flexible lever that’s tailored to the needs of the market. Our goal is to help company leaders revise their strategic planning and find partners. We want to support the development of SMEs in international markets and encourage strategic alliances. I am pleased to announce that we will be continuing our efforts next year and are extending this program until 2025.

So companies still have an opportunity to take advantage of this team-based, partnership service. Through the Accelerator360° program, we offer personalized support and direct access to seasoned experts, and we facilitate the various steps involved in promoting the development of SMEs. There’s still time to get on board!

We know the formula works, and we’re using this special newsletter to share some of the many successes of the initiative. If you’d like to find out more, please contact Yannick Michaux, Project Manager, Business Support and Competitiveness (yannick.michaux@aeromontreal.ca; 438 226-2100).

I’m convinced that with Accelerator 360° and the extension we’re announcing today, we have the right tools to further speed up the growth of SMEs in our ecosystem.

MÉLANIE LUSSIER
President
AÉRO MONTRÉAL

CAN YOU EXPLAIN THE PURPOSE OF ACCELERATOR 360°?

Accelerator 360° is an initiative launched in 2018 and extended until March 2025. The objectives of this initiative are to:

Support 30 Québec aerospace SMEs over a 5-year period;
Help executives review their international strategic planning;
Support their development on international markets by encouraging consolidation;
Promote strategic alliances and partnerships;
Train teams to meet the needs of the industry.

WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ACCELERATOR 360°?

The program provides funding envelopes to enable SMEs to form strategic partnerships and to support them in their acquisition or divestment process. Funding is available up to CAD $75,000 for a team and CAD $100,000 for a consolidation.

Eligible expenses are:

The support of an externamoil firm to meet legal and tax requirements in a context of internationalization and consolidation;
The training you need to enter a specific market;
Consultancy to help you respond to a business opportunity;
Costs associated with the consolidation process (if not covered by other existing programs).

WHICH COMPANIES IS THE PROGRAM PRIMARILY AIMED AT?

The Accelerator 360° program has a number of eligibility criteria to help us target companies as effectively as possible, thereby maximizing and optimizing the assistance and support the initiative can provide.

More specifically, the program targets:

Companies in the manufacturing and/or engineering services and/or MRO (aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul) sectors;
Companies that generate at least 30% of their sales in the aerospace sector;
Companies deemed to be SMEs, i.e. with fewer than 500 employees;
Companies with a Québec Enterprise Number (NEQ) and with the main decision-making centre in Québec;
Companies with strong potential in terms of technology, production capacity or operating in a niche market;
Companies seeking to develop collaborations, partnerships and/or undergoing a consolidation process;
Companies where the CEO and a member of management are effectively involved in the program.

FUNDING APPLICATIONS CAN SOMETIMES BE COMPLEX TO PUT TOGETHER. WHAT ABOUT THIS PROGRAM?

Having the opportunity to be funded is great, but getting to the end of the funding application process and getting money is even better. And often in this area, an SME business owner can quickly become discouraged by the administrative procedures and miss out on the financial support that would enable them to grow. As a result, the application process for Accelerator funding has been reduced to a minimum. What’s more, Aéro Montréal supports companies throughout the process and is always available to answer any questions.

BEYOND FINANCING, WHAT VALUE DOES AÉRO MONTRÉAL BRING TO PARTICIPANTS?

The Accelerator 360° program provides personalized support from three expert consultants. This support can take the form of training, formal information sessions or contacts with experts (lawyers, tax specialists, legal experts).

Four times a year we organize face-to-face meetings on topics of interest to participating companies. In addition, we send out weekly “Aerospace Briefs” to Accelerator members. This concise document summarizes all the important new and updated information published during the previous week and provides a quick overview of current industry issues.

ACCELERATOR 360

In December 2022, Groupe Meloche, based in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, a Quebec leader in the development and manufacture of aerostructure and aeroengine components for the aerospace sector, announced the acquisition of Aérospatiale Hemmingford, a company specializing in the machining of aircraft engine parts. This acquisition was part of Groupe Meloche's growth strategy, which aims to reach $200 million in sales by 2026.

This consolidation achieved through the 360
° Accelerator program was a success, thanks to the following key elements:

➤ A real work of alignment of "family" values upstream
➤ Tailor-made support that allows companies that do not necessarily have all the resources and knowledge in-house to complete this type of transaction
