THE BEDFORD BASIN REPORT

Dear Friends,

Thank you for reading this e-newsletter. It seems hardly possible, but here we are at summer solstice. It seems like just yesterday that we were marking New Year’s Eve.

Bedford’s annual celebration, Bedford Days, is nearly upon us. There really is something for everyone — everything from indigenous art (on display beginning last night until Tuesday June 27) at Sunnyside Mall to athletic events, multicultural celebrations, and many other fun events. To find out where and when events are happening, please visit the Halifax website.

Our firefighters will hold their annual Beer Fest on Canada Day evening at DeWolf Park from 6 p.m. to midnight for those 19+. This is a major fundraiser for our firefighters, and recent events have shown how very much they’re needed. If you’re able, please support them — and please drive responsibly.

I want to thank the volunteers, HRM staff, Councillor Tim Outhit, and the businesses and other organizations for their creativity and their hard work.

I did want to note that this year, tickets are required for “Rouge et Blanc” on Saturday night. Admission is still free, but this will help organizers plan for attendance. You can get your ticket here.

I look forward to seeing you at Bedford Days — soon!

Sincerely,

Kelly Regan, MLA for Bedford Basin

Scott Manor House

Bedford’s volunteer-run local historical museum, Scott Manor House, has all kinds of great entertainment coming up this summer.

As always, the tearoom will be operating, and guides will offer tours of the property. Musicians will perform in concerts; the Georgian Tea will be on for Bedford Days and artisans will show their wares and offer them for sale.

This year, there will also be workshops on everything from painting to pottery. There will be yoga on the lawn, and other activities for all ages to enjoy.

The Scott Manor House calendar looks really exciting this summer — check it out
