This week’s educator resources, Building Awareness, are designed to build mental health literacy and support social-emotional learning among students from elementary through high school. Through curriculum-aligned lesson plans, facilitation guides, videos, and integrated frameworks, they help educators create engaging, stigma-free learning environments that promote student well-being.

Educator Resources:

1. Provided by School Mental Health Ontario, the Health and Physical Education Curriculum – Mental Health Literacy Lesson Plans (Grades 1–8) support the development of mental health literacy and social-emotional learning through engaging, cross-curricular classroom activities and resources.

2. Developed by the Health Literacy Team at BC Children’s Hospital and the Child, Youth, and Young Adult Mental Health and Substance Use Gaining Ground Team at Fraser Health, Stop Wondering, Start Knowing (Grades 8-10) is a mental health education resource, comprising a facilitation guide and five short videos designed to decrease stigma and enhance mental health literacy among students.

3. Connecting Mental Health Literacy and Well-Being to the Physical Education/Health Education Curriculum is a resource developed by Manitoba Education to integrate mental health literacy and well-being concepts into the K–12 Physical Education/Health Education curriculum.
