2022 Budget Update

Throughout December, Council and staff met during a series of special budget meetings to review and deliberate the 2022 Proposed Town Budget. Based on discussions and direction from Council, an updated proposed budget will be posted to the Town website on January 12, 2022.

Residents and stakeholders will have the opportunity to share feedback at a virtual Public Meeting scheduled for February 7, 2022. The public meeting will be live-streamed on the Town website.

Those who wish to provide verbal comments at the meeting must pre-register by contacting the Town Clerk no later than five business days in advance of the meeting.

Operational Update & Town Response to Modified Step Two

In response to the Provincial announcement regarding the return to Modified Step Two of the Roadmap to Reopen, the Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise that select municipal facilities will be closed to the public until further notice.

Facility closures include Town Hall, Beaver Valley Community Centre and Arena, Craigleith Community Centre and Ravenna Hall.

During the facility closures, Town staff continue to be available to assist residents over the phone and by email during regular business hours. In addition, various online services can be accessed 24/7 by visiting: thebluemountains.ca/online-services

Town Welcomes Councillor Bordignon as New Deputy Mayor

At the December 15, 2021 special Council meeting, Councillor Peter Bordignon was appointed to his new role as Deputy Mayor for the Town of The Blue Mountains. 

The appointment followed the direction from Council, where Council agreed that the vacant position of Deputy Mayor, created by the passing of Deputy Mayor Rob Potter, would be filled by the current Member of Council with the next highest number of votes from the 2018 to 2022 municipal election.

Notice of Public Meeting - Review of Corporate Policies

The Town will be holding a virtual Public Meeting on January 24, 2022 to allow the public to review and comment on the proposed revisions to the Sale and Other Disposition of Land PolicyHiring of Employees Policy, and the Procedural By-law 2021-76 as it relates to Timelines Associated with the Release of Agendas.

The Public Meeting will be live-streamed on the Town website and will be available to all members of the public. Those who wish to provide verbal comments at the meeting must pre-register by contacting the Town Clerk no later than five business days in advance of the meeting.

Town-Wide Master 
Drainage Plan

The Town is undertaking a comprehensive Town-wide Master Drainage Plan to serve as a long-term strategy for the Town to manage stormwater in existing and new growth areas.

As a next step in the development of the plan, a pre-recorded Public Information Centre will be available on the Town website on February 1 (pending approval from Council).

To prepare for growth and enhance the existing transportation network, the Town is undertaking the development of a comprehensive Transportation Master Plan (TMP).

Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion
The Thornbury Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion project  will replace end-of-life equipment to ensure that the treatment plant is capable of providing reliable service in line with the forecasted growth of the community.

Planning for the project is underway with construction expected to begin this summer.
