The city's proposal targets restrictions on training flights during the summer period, including banning such flights on weekends in July and August. This is the second consultation carried out by the city this year. The first one was in February 2021 and it never really came to fruition. Aviateurs.Québec intervened in this first round by submitting comments on February 11, 2021. For the second time this year, Aviateurs.Québec therefore provided its comments strongly opposing the city plan and recommending that Transport Canada reject the city's proposal. Once the results of the consultation have been collected by the city, the ball will end up at Transport Canada in accordance with Advosiry circular CI 302-002 Implementation of new or amended noise abatement procedures. A copy of our brief is available here (in French) Photo: Jean-Pierre Bonin | Mont-Laurier airport is back in operation | Renovation work at Mont-Laurier airport has been completed. APPA Mont-Laurier Richard Valiquette. Photo: Mont-Laurier Airport Facebook page | NAV Canada: NOTAM on the condition of the runway surface | With the winter season upon us, we saw fit to inform you about this change made by Nav Canada, last August 12, on how to report and interpret the surface condition of a runway. The new RSC NOTAM format replaces the old SNOWTAM and NOTAMJ as a means of reporting runway surface conditions. RSC NOTAMs are published using the series defined for distribution in Canada, internationally, and in the United States. Several references exist to help users understand the new procedures. You will find them HERE . One of these references is of particular interest because it is addressed directly to pilots: it is NAV CANADA Aeronautical Information Circular (AIC) 24/21 . It contains information to help users interpret the new RSC NOTAM format. It also presents associated phraseology that pilots might expect to hear, including the runway surface condition and the Canadian Runway Friction Coefficient (CRFI) in a runway third-party report. Photo: Gilles Lambert | News from Maurice Prud'homme and the RVA Chez Moe | Maurice Prud'homme would like to inform you that the COPA 169 Club (RVA Chez Mo) has resumed its monthly meetings. These meetings are held every first Saturday of the month, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Aylmer BBQ restaurant (134 main street, Gatineau, QC, J9H 4G8). Club members and all interested aviators are invited to join these meetings. As these meetings are held in the restaurant, a double vaccination and presentation of the vaccination passport are required. RVA Chez MO sur skis, February 26, 2022 Contrary to a rumor which circulated at the beginning of the year, Maurice Prud'homme will still hold an RVA in 2022, the last Saturday (26) of the month of February, but for equipment on skis. Please note that this RVA will only be held for planes on skis (or helicopters). There will be no cleared runway for wheeled planes as in past years. There will also be no radio on the ground. A light snack will be served, but without the traditional chili. The previous formula, although appreciated by all, was made too cumbersome to organize. Maurice will be waiting for you with his usual good humor at this friendly meeting.
