INFO-SPRING

Spring is the season for a fresh start and the perfect timing to share important reminders.

In this newsletter, you'll find information on garage sales, permit applications, subsidy program for the emerald ash borer, regulations regarding pets, safety rules around swimming pools, and more.

Garage sales prohibited

We have obtained confirmation that it remains prohibited to hold garage sales in the red and orange zones.

A decree from the Direction de la santé publique du Québec specifies that any gathering of people on private property is prohibited. Garage sales are not among the rare exceptions.

We thank you for your understanding and we will let you know when the ban is lifted.

Permit applications

Are you planning to do renovation or construction work  this summer?

Before starting any work on your property, check with the Urban planning department to find out if you need to obtain a building permit or authorization certification.

To apply for a permit, you must complete the appropriate form and send it, along with any other required documents, to the Urban planning department at ejanukavicius@sadb.qc.ca.

Emerald ash borer

Did you know that the City offers a financial assistance program for the felling and replacement of an ash tree affected by the borer?

This year, the City of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue is renewing its financial assistance program for trees affected by the emerald ash borer.

Note that the number of grants is limited and that they are awarded according to the order of registration. If you need to cut down your ash tree, don't wait to submit a request!

PETS

With all of this time at home over the past few months, maybe you've decided to add a new four-legged member to your family?

Here is a little reminder about municipal by-laws concerning dogs and cats.

Dogs

For everyone's safety, we remind you that municipal by-law requires all dog owners to keep their pets on a leash as soon as they are outside their property. The leash must be no more than 1.85 meters (6 ’) long and attached to a halter or harness.

All dog owners must obtain a medal issued by the City. This is valid for the entire lifespan of the animal. Proof of sterilization and microchipping is required to obtain the medal.

We also remind you that not collecting the excrements of your dog is an offense punishable by a fine. Help us keep our city clean and welcoming!

Any violation of the rules is punishable by a fine ranging from $ 200 to $ 400.

Take your dog to one of the two dog parks in the city at Parc Claude-Robillard or Parc St-Pierre, where he will be free to run without a leash.

The presence of dogs in City parks and on the Promenade du canal (boardwalk) is prohibited AT ALL TIMES, with the exception of guide or assistance dogs.

Felling of a spruce tree by the Canal

Parks Canada wishes to inform the public that the large Colorado spruce tree located at the Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Canal National Historic Site will be felled in the next few days.

A recent assessment by a forestry engineer showed that the tree, although healthy, might be uprooted during strong winds because of its steep incline. As a precaution, the tree will be felled to avoid any risk of falling and to ensure the safety of visitors.
