| Complete the Hospital Security and Protective Services survey | Submit by: August 5, 2026 As part of the independent, third-party review of hospital safety and security announced by the Ministry of Health, all Saskatchewan Health Authority employees are invited to voluntarily participate in the Hospital Security and Protective Services survey.
The survey is being conducted and administered by Buckingham Security Services Ltd. and is completely confidential. All survey responses go directly to Buckingham Security Services Ltd.
The scope of the review includes hospital and health centres, safety assessments, the legislative and regulatory environment, jurisdictional scanning, service delivery analysis, training and competency standards, tools and infrastructure, and stakeholder engagement.
The review will not involve detailed investigations of individual incidents, ongoing investigations, or processes currently underway or already completed. Your experiences and perspectives are valuable in shaping the final report. | Updates to Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) documents | IPAC has revised the following resources. - The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Donning and Doffing documents for Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers, including Ebola Disease (VHF/EBOD) have been revamped so that the Work Standards and “steps” handouts are now combined. The information has not changed, however, tabletop testing showed that staff were not aware of the information presented in the Work Standards.
- The Transmission Based Precautions Table has been updated as follows:
- The day of symptom onset has been clarified to be Day 0 in the General Principles.
- The entry for Staphylococcus aureus has been corrected to indicate that Droplet Precautions are required for pediatric pneumonia.
- The Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers entry now includes direction that an individual under quarantine who seeks healthcare, but is asymptomatic, requires Droplet/Contact Precautions.

Implementation Date: August 4, 2026
Starting today, July 21, 2026, the new CS-CP-0111 Care and Management of Tunneled Intermittent Pleural & Peritoneal Drains (PleurX™/PeritX™) is available for training purposes. This procedure outlines the care and management of tunneled intermittent pleural and peritoneal drains using PleurX™/PeritX™ catheter systems and compatible drainage devices (e.g., MED-RX®), including: - Dressing changes
- Drainage using a closed, high-negative-pressure vacuum bottle or gravity bag
- Accessing catheters for irrigation and fluid sampling
- Repairing a broken catheter valve
- Troubleshooting drainage difficulties and emergencies
Supporting guidance documents, patient education resources, checklists, flowsheets, videos, and companion guides are available to support safe practice and patient care.
A mandatory learning module - Tunneled Intermittent Pleural and Peritoneal Drains (PleurXTM / PeritXTM) (CS-LM-0113) in MyConnection, and Certification Skills Checklist (SHA 0745) are available to support continuing competence requirements for clinical team members (LPNs, MRTs, RNs, RPNs, and Sonographers).

The Work Standard - Ordering and Receiving Vaccine from Roy Romanow Provincial Laboratory (RRPL) outlines the process for Public Health teams to order and receive publicly funded vaccines from RRPL to optimize inventory management and minimize wastage.
The following documents have been developed to support vaccine management and are posted on the Public Health Nurse (PHN) Immunization page. | New Communication and Consultation Process | Effective July 20, 2026, the Consultation and Communication Process for Publicly Funded Immunization Work Standard (CS-WS-0073) is available for implementation at SHA Public Health offices. This describes the consultation process for Public Health teams to obtain answers for immunization, publicly funded vaccine, and Panorama related questions and the documentation and communication of this information. This will be posted on the Public Health Nurse (PHN) Immunization page.
Public Health networks must implement these processes and review their vaccine inventory and kanban’s prior to September 1, 2026. Former region documents related to the new resources must be reviewed and assessed for archival. | Clinical Standards Status Report | The Clinical Standards Status Report is a live resource providing up-to-date information on provincial clinical standards document development. It is accessible to both SHA staff and external partners. Hosted in Smartsheet, the report includes details such as the development phase, document type, related education materials, and anticipated publication timelines. Leadership, educators, and point-of-care staff are encouraged to review the report regularly to support implementation planning and training awareness. The Interprofessional Practice team and Document Development leads update the report at least once a month to ensure the information remains current.
