Fire Safety

Smoke Detectors

Did you know that...

  • Recent statistics indicate that only 68% of residential buildings in Quebec were equipped with smoke detectors.
  • Of this number, 1 out of every 4 detectors was not in working order.

Prevention Tips

  • Residential buildings must be equipped with at least one smoke detector per floor.
  • New constructions must be equipped with electric smoke detectors, that are interconnected. They must be installed in each bedroom in addition to the one on every floor.
  • All smoke detectors must be replaced at least every 10 years.
  • It is very important that devices be installed according to the manufacturer’s specifications.

Fire prevention is your responsibility!
