Regular Council Meeting - January 27th at 1:00pm

We’re Listening. Tell us what matters to you!

Council plans to host Town Hall (Open House) meetings three times a year starting in early 2026. Before we set dates and themes, we want your input.

Take our 3–5 minute survey to help us:

  • choose the topics you care about,

  • find days and times that work,

  • pick the format (Q&A, small groups, etc.).

We’ll share what we heard and how it shaped the plan before the first meeting. Thank you for helping us build Town Halls that work for Crowsnest Pass.

Questions or accessibility needs? Email documents@crowsnestpass.com or call 403-562-8833.

January Safety & Enforcement Focus

We’re pairing two important reminders—licenses and safe driving—to start the year on the right foot.

Licenses

Business Licenses (2026): If you’ve moved or changed the type of business, please contact us before paying—you may need a new license application.

Animal Licenses (2026): Dog (altered/unaltered: 1-year, 3-year, lifetime) and cat (lifetime) options available at the Municipal Office.

#SafeRoadsCNP Focus: Intersection Safety

Intersections carry a lot of risk—most intersection collisions occur in urban areas, and driver error accounts for the majority. On average in Alberta, ~47 people are killed and ~7,000 are injured each year in intersection collisions. Slowing down, stopping fully, and making careful left turns save lives.

Design that helps: The new bumpouts in downtown Coleman and Bellevue improve sightlines by moving pedestrians into drivers’ view and preventing parked vehicles from blocking crosswalks. They also shorten crossing distances and encourage lower speeds.

Winter layers of risk: Give yourself more time and space to stop on snow and ice.

Impairment & fatigue: Alberta data show impairment is over-represented in fatal collisions, and national data indicate fatigue contributes to a significant share of fatal crashes. Plan a sober ride and rest before driving.

Check your licenses, share the road, and help keep our crossings safe this winter.

Thank You Cherry on Top

The Friends of Crowsnest Community Library would like to thank Cherry on Top Bakery and Koffee Shop in Blairmore for the generous donation of cookies in support of our Adirondack Chair Fundraising Project.

Local hours of service are:

Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 8:30am – 3:00pm

Tuesday/Thursday: 9:00am – 5:00pm* Note the change of full-day service on Thursdays, commencing January 15, 2026. This is made possible thanks to a grant from the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass and an extension of the contract with Healthy Aging Alberta!

Rider fees are:

Local trips $10* one-way (note change), with $1 for each additional stop.

Trips to Pincher Creek $35; to Lethbridge $100; and to Calgary $200. Subsidies are available for individuals in need.

Stamp cards for local trips are available for $25 from the driver or at the General Store at the Peaks to Pines Seniors Lodge…a great gift idea this season!

We welcome Darcy Makin to the Cruisers’ team as Transportation Coordinator! Darcy will coordinate out-of-town trips and help the Board with some of the operational aspects of the service. Marie will continue as our driver ‘extraordinaire’ for local trips.

We thank our amazing volunteer drivers/companions: Ben Van Erkel, Carol Ann Smith, Dan Delisle, Jay Desaunoy, Marcus Mann, Ron Schulz, Scott Mackinnon and Vicki Hewison for the kindness and compassion they show to riders who use the Cruisers! We could not offer the quality of service we are so proud to provide, without your help!

Volunteer drivers are recruited for out-of-town trips to keep costs as low as possible. If you have a Class 1, 2, or 4 driver's license and are able to help once or twice a month, we’d love to hear from you! Honorariums are offered to volunteer drivers. Call Darcy at 403.583.5587 for more information.
