UBC Active Kids Covid-19 Update

On Thurs Aug 26th, in response to the recent public health announcement, we sent a communication regarding the impact on Active Kid programs.

Since that time, we have received additional information that may affect your son or daughter if they are between the ages of 12-17 YRS.

While we strongly recommend that all participants get vaccinated if they are eligible, we are categorized as a Youth Recreational Sport program and therefore anyone between the ages of 12 – 17 YRS will not require proof of vaccination in order to participate in our program.

For more information about the upcoming proof of vaccination requirements as well as information on how to get vaccinated, please visit the following resources:

All Active Kids students / staff / and volunteers working or attending classes on campus, must adhere to the UBC guidelines for vaccination and testing, which were of course developed in partnership with Public Health.

There is also no change to UBC and Active Kids facemask policy: effective immediately face masks will be required when indoors at all Active Kids programs for persons aged 12 and older.

We strongly recommended that you and your child also wear a facemask even during activity time. However, masks may be removed at the start of activity time and should be replaced as soon as the class is complete. Exceptions to this policy include:

  • Persons with an underlying medical condition or disability which impacts the ability to wear a face covering
  • Children 11 years of age or under
  • Persons unable to place or remove a face covering without assistance

Please also visit our website for more information.
